Gray Tree Frog (Hyla versicolor) - Nikon D610 + Nikon 200-400mm VR

STOP at Frog Crossings

June 02, 2015 in June 2015

Love is in the air (or pond) on a rainy spring day. The silence of winter is broken by belches, croaks and peeps. Music to my ears after the long and cold season, the symphony of herps is a brief but welcome sound.

During very rainy days in the peak of the breeding season, midwest frogs and toads will traverse hostile landscapes to find a new habitat. Urban developments, like roads, are war zones even when situated within pristine rural communities.
This grey tree frog was rescued from enemy territory by a little girl and her father. Friends to me and the amphibians of the world, the two set the stage of nice mossy log, so I could grab a few fleeting images before releasing our froggy friend to find a mate and make some babies
